Family-owned and operated for over a century, the Perfect Measuring Tape Company (PMT) was founded in 1912 by Andrew Joseph Bohnengel, who emigrated from Germany with only a suitcase full of belongings.
He settled in Toledo, Ohio, married, and with his savings built textile-finishing equipment to process wool fabrics for his customers. During the next decade, he invented, patented, and built several types of textile-related machinery, among them two machines used to manufacture paper measuring tape.
PMT still operates these very machines today, printing and cutting measuring tape for the world’s textile and apparel industries that is the standard for accuracy and inventory control of fabrics and rolled goods.
Over the years we have added many other measurement devices to our product catalog, which we supply worldwide. Our measuring tapes and tools are found in construction and industrial sites, hospitals, retail clothing stores, science and research labs, tailoring rooms, schools, carpenter’s workshops, oil rigs, auto repair shops, and maybe even your garage!
PMT is the recipient of numerous awards, including the President’s “E” award for U.S. exporters. We are also a proud member of the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB).
